Dev Prakash Manjhi, Dalit, Tops Class 10th MP Board Exam BUT Lower Caste Betrayed Him

If given a chance to study, Dalits can achieve new heights. It has been proved once again that with Dev Prakash Manjhi, a Dalit securing the top position in Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) results of the Class 10th. Over 7 Lakh students appeared for the exam that was held in March.

After Kalpit Veerwal, IIT Mains Topper and Riya Singh, TISS topper, another Dalit, Dev Prakash Manjhi, from Madhya Pradesh has proven so-called merit-wala castes wrong. It is the opportunities those matters.

Dev Prakash Manjhi lives near in a small town Dabra in Gwalior district. He secured 587 marks out of 600 to top the 10th Class board examination in MP. His father Kadam Singh Manjhi, a constable in MP Police, is posted at Shivpuri. His one brother is studying for B.Tech and another one is constable in police and his sister works in Forest department of MP.

Government Officials Didn’t Invite Dev Prakash Manjhi, Topper of 10th Class, While Felicitating Meritorious Students

The caste system is so entrenched in Indian society with Madhya Pradesh being leading state in atrocities and crimes against Dalits.

On Friday, BJP Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was felicitating meritorious students at his official residence for securing the top 10 positions in the merit list but one name was missing from that list. Yes, you guessed it right – topper, Dev Prakash Manjhi, a Dalit’s name was missing from the list who students who were invited.

He performed so well but still was forgotten, how convenient for the Brahminical system to discourage the Dalit students. We would like to know how many other so-called upper caste students were forgotten to invite?

How often have you heard such stories that toppers are forgotten to invite for the official functions? Why does it happen when Dalits become toppers?

“I have done best and proved that students from small places can do wonders. Recognition was expected, but I can’t help it if it is not done. I am disheartened. I was happy to see my name as a topper in the state. But, the joy washed away as I could not get the award from Chief Minister”, said Dev Prakash Manjhi while speaking to TOI.

Did Dev Prakash Manjhi’s Dalit background betray him?

Here is the mark-sheet of Dev Prakash Manjhi, see and tell us why didn’t he deserve an award?

Hindi – 96/100

English – 94/100

Mathematics – 99/100

Sanskrit – 100/100

Science – 100/100

Social Studies – 98/100

And so-called upper castes cry that Dalits get only 40% marks. So-called upper castes spread stereotypes through the media they control.

Dev Prakash Manjhi, a Dalit, has scored 100/100 in Sanskrit, will he be allowed to become temple head? No, caste matters. No matter how well versed a Dalit is in Sanskrit, she/he can’t become temple head.

Dev Prakash Manjhi wants to join National Defence Academy and become IPS officer.

Velivada Team wishes best for his future.
