How Bhim Army Led To Defeat of BJP in Kairana
The efforts and the influence of the Bhim Army to mobilise Muslim and Dalit votes in at least two constituencies of Kairana was among the main reasons the BJP lost the seat in the recent by-polls in Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders who worked on the campaign told ET.
According to BJP, Bhim Army is a “threat to the BJP” as Dalit and Muslims youth are coming together to defeat them. Before the election, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekar Azad had written a letter asking Bhim Army supporters to make sure that BJP loses the election.
The necessity of people’s movement and strategic thinking: Bhim Army and the defeat of RSS in Kairana
The RSS/BJP blamed Bhim Army for its defeat in Kairana by-elections. The media reported that the Dalits and Muslims polarised against the Hindutva brand of politics. When Yogi came to power in UP, the clashed between his organisation and between the Dalits in Saharanpur left three-person dead. Chandrashekhar Azad, the founder and the President of Bhim Army, was arrested and he is still in the jail.
However, his mobilisation of the people on the ground by offering the community much-needed services like education left the people in the area enthused about the purpose of Bhim Army. After the caste clashes in Saharanpur, the Dalits in this area publicly denounced gods and goddesses and embraced Buddhism.

The youths in the area are very active and they are guarding the interests of their people. Bhim Army organised day and night campaigns, making sure that on the day of the election not even a single Dalit or Muslim vote goes to BJP.
In Kairana elections, the leader of the Bhim Army was constantly in touch with his people from the jail and encouraged to uproot the BJP from this constituency. His people went from house to house and mobilised the Dalits and Muslim youths against the rising and much bolder version of Hindutva under Yogi in the state and under Modi in the entire country.
It is clear that if the Brahmins and their ilk is polarised through the electoral process, they have no power to do anything for sustaining their power. It is also interesting that most of the OBCs are also not falling in the trap of “Brahminical Hindutva” politics as they came to realise that the Brahminism is against their interest and hence they cannot side with the Brahmins-led Hindutva politics.
The writings on the walls are becoming clear. If the 93 percent of the exploited masses are mobilised against the Brahminical Hindutva system, the Hindutva politics will be eradicated from this country forever. But for this to happen, grassroots level mobilisation like the Bhim Army is needed.
What can one learn from the recent election results in UP!
The Rashtriya Loka Dal (RLD) candidate, Tabassum Hasan, won the Lok Sabha election by a respectable margin in UP. This is the third straight loss in the elections for the BJP/RSS. Interestingly, the RLD candidate was supported by both SP and BSP. It also got a support from the Congress. If we calculate the votes polled by the winner, it is clear that there is a backlash against the RSS/BJP. The BJP/RSS is trying to create a Hindutva regime by fooling the OBCs, minorities, and SCs, but it is falling sharply as the votes are getting polarised against the RSS/BJP.
This faultline between the Brahminical and non-Brahminical is the only way to finish the RSS/BJP. Needless to say that the out-of-box thinking left for the BJP/RSS is the communal polarisation that can subsume the caste faultline and hence it has a capacity to create division between the communities divided by the Brahminical caste system.
can the polarisation take places against “Hindutva-Brahmins”?
This is going to be an important faultline that can shift the political equation of this country considerably.

we agree that Bhimsena has played an important role in mobilising Dalits and Muslims to come together with an objective in mind which turned to be in the form of defeat if BJP at Kairana parliament Seat . However it’s credit being taken by BSP does not sound convincing and the Complacency in Mayawatiji is un_understandable.Mayawati does not want CS azad ( raven) or any body to grow .She does not mind the growth or fall of mission let it go to hell but her personal aggrandisement to be resolved.
The BJP Government at the centre is sure to divide with a view to getting another term to rule. So, the SCs will be bifurcated as into Dalit and Mahadalit as in Bihar. The Bihar model will be replicated and applied by the BJP. This ensures division and they may try to create conflict, engineer violence calculated to achieve their nefarious design.
The noble Kairana experience and model of election against the Hindutva brigade is the answer against the divisive Hindutva brigade.
That will bring foolproof success no doubt.
Jai Bheem! Jai Bheem Army!!
