[Following is the translation of the flyer published by Babasaheb Ambedkar before Mahad Satyagraha. Originally it is in Marathi (find it at the end of this post) and translation to English has been done by Manas G. A. and Manish Ahire. – editor]

Public Announcement For the people attending the Mahad Satyagraha

Those attending the Satyagraha at Mahad beginning on 25-12-27 are hereby requested that they carry with them a plate, a tumbler, a quilt and food provisions for three days. Although we have made arrangements for meals there, everyone should come prepared. Dr. Ambedkar and other members of the Satyagraha Committee will leave Bombay aboard a steamer on 24-12-27. Those who wish to come with them should deposit five rupees as travel expenses in the office of the Bahishkrut Hitakarini Sabha before 15-12-27 so that a separate boat can be arranged for them. Those who wish to avail this facility should register their names at once in the office of the Bahishkrut Hitakarini Sabha, make a payment of five rupees to the secretary and collect a receipt. And those who do not wish to come with members of the committee should remember to alight at Dasgaon.

There is expected to be a large crowd at Mahad. Therefore, for the ease of identification of our people, volunteers participating in the Satyagraha should affix a badge stating “Bahishkrut Hitakarini Sabha” on their chest. The Committee will not assume any responsibility of the protection or any other responsibility of those without a badge on their chest. The price of these badges has been fixed at only two annas and they can be purchased from the office of the Bahishkrut Hitakarini Sabha.

Yours,
Sitaram Namdeo Shivtarkar.
Secretary, Satyagraha Committee.
