Request For Immediate Help in Kerala

Here is an appeal from our brothers and sisters in Kerala. We know very well that the Dalits are discriminated even during the relief and rehabilitation after the natural disasters. It is time to show our love and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Kerala in this time of distress.

Dear friends,

Jai Bhim, Namo Buddhaya!

The Kerala state is undergoing disastrous flood due to incessant rainfall since the last three months. The state is in the midst of an unprecedented flood havoc which has led to immeasurable devastation. Eight out of fourteen districts are declared under red alert area. The heavy rains continued to wreck in many parts of Kerala especially the hilly districts namely Idukki and Vayanadu.

The two districts are repeatedly witnessed by huge landslide and over flooded last couple of weeks. 33 dams are opened and 44 rivers are spilling over. Almost 40 people are missing and 72 people lost their life. Repeated land sliding has been collapsed the road transportation so that rescue team and other helpers are struggling to reach to affected areas. Vayanad and Idukki districts are completely isolated from the state.

The water level is increasing day by day into the major relief center in the flood-affected areas. 1.18 lakh people are staying in the relief camps and 130000 families are struggling for their life. The state Government has asked to provide adequate helps to the all Ngo’s and the well-wishers facilitating immediate requirements to the affected areas. At this point of time, it is our responsibility to be a part of this task to bring the affected people back to their normal life. We, the Abhayaloka Buddhist Community would like to contribute and provide immediate requirements for the victims in the flood-affected areas. If you’re planning to donate/support those affected by the flood, please support organizations led by Dalit-Bahujans. We have seen many times Dalits are ignored even during the relief. Be Gujarat earthquake or TN Tsunami or Earthquake in Nepal, Dalits were the worst affected and still ignored during relief. Support it.

Don’t ever donate for relief activities through any Brahminical organizations such as RSS or Seva International. Money donated by you is used by such organizations to fund riots and killings of Dalits and Muslims.

Same happens when you donate at any Brahmin temple also.
