Sony Serial Abusive Language against Dalit Community

On Netflix a serial drama named Mahi way in SE1:ES1  – Mahi a chubby girl next door, during timing-from 32.27(Min:Sec) to 32: 40 Min: Sec) a legally objectionable abusive language was used against Dalit community to spread hatred. In this particular scene that is elaborated below Mahi and her friend driving back home from a Thursday gym club party.

And Mahi abuses guy whose name is shiv who was her neighbour. The objectionable words are  “Wo tha na koi chindi chamaar chor types”, highlighted below.  This language of hatred is a punishable offence under Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,1989 (hereinafter Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989).

Mahi: “Hello uncle, ye pasina nahi hai, ye Whiskey hai, jo clumsy idiot ne mere eklouti Thursday night dress pe gira di”

Sid: “Kisko gali de rahi hai”

Mahi: “Wo tha na koi chindi chamaar chor types”

Sid: “ oh wo tere bartender escort, oh he was so cute”

Mahi: “Cute? Khud hi rakh le tu”

Sid: “ I really don’t really mind”
