127th Dr. Ambedkar Birth Anniversary Celebrated in New Jersey, USA, by Ambedkar International Mission


The Ambedkar Jayanti celebration organized by AIM on 14, April 2018 in NJ USA.  Over  250 participants attended the Jayanti celebration. These attendees traveled all the way from Australia and India as well as from various states within US  states that includes  Maryland, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Connecticut, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts.

The Jayanti celebration began with an offering of flowers to emancipator Dr. Babasaheb’s photo and lighting candles to the statue of Lord Buddha. The event continued with Jayanti celebration song written and composed by one of our AIM members. This empowering song generated the celebration atmosphere, which followed by Dhamma discourse by venerable Bhante Rewata.

The event then continued with mesmerizing “Bharatanatyam Welcome Dance” performance by a famous professional dance group from NJ. This demonstrated our inclusiveness and expansion in the representation of people from the various cultural background, came forward to salute to Nation Builder Dr. Babasaheb.

AIM Kids panel discussion was one of the strong items which showed our cultural platform cultivating the next generation scholars. AIM Kids Panel discussion presented their thoughts and views on the topic of stress management related to studies and homework. Here also proud to write those AIM Kids also presented various topics related to Dr. Ambedkar and Buddhism through high-quality PowerPoint presentation for their age.

Guest speaker Ms. Cynthia Stephen reminded the great work and contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in making modern India. She also highlighted some of her upcoming social empowerment projects.

Guest Speaker, Mr. Jayant Cherian made us aware of the Dalit movement in Kerala and their challenges as well as digital significance in the process change.

AIM president Mr. Raju Kamble while overviewed on the genesis of AIM, he also shared the foundation principles of AIM and emphasized the importance of the cultural activities in such events. This promotes kid’s participation and exposes them to the Ambedkarism and Buddhism’s which helps in creating future activists and leaders. This is evident from the superior quality of the kid’s panel discussion and a PowerPoint presentation that we witnessed during this event.

The event continued and kept the audience engaged by professional-level performances of the AIM members that created a festive ambiance.

AIM senior member presented on the various projects include Global Empowerment Network and discussed how AIM has been instrumental to advocate on the different spectrum to assert the rights provided in the Indian constitution by its chief architect Dr. BR (Babasaheb) Ambedkar. Prof. Jayashree Kamble presented on AIMstudent mentoring activities and also appealed to support AIM  in continuing student mentoring activities.

Mr. Suraj Yengde, a Harvard University fellow gave a brief glance at impressive statistical data on inequality and lacking representation of weaker section in all major institutions educational, judiciary, bureaucracy etc.

Mr. Sanjay Bhagat announced that BSG has planned a three-day long conference on ‘Unfinished Legacy of Dr. B R Ambedkar’ to be held on May 5th, 2018 at University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst. He also shared a  good news that the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst has agreed to install Dr. B R Ambedkar’s bust in their esteemed W.E.B. Du Bois library.

This was another successful event conducted by AIM USA and special thanks to the  AIM -Ladies volunteers who were on the forefront to organize as well as execute this Jayanti celebration as well as all other AIM volunteers who provided help from time to time.

Every year AIM team is demonstrating par excellence in organizing events with the manifest to continue spreading the legacy of Babasaheb. It is not least to mention that it was professionally organized event right from a time punctuality to keep attendees engaged till the end of the program.

This event was concluded with vote of thanks followed by shramdana (cleaning up) by all the AIM members.

    Velivada, Thank you for sharing the videos of 127th Birth Anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr.B.R. Ambedkar. AIM has been doing a great job very long time in America ,its founder Mr.Raju Kamble deserves my heart felt appreciation.We need to keep our newer generation in to Dr. Ambedkar’s fold.
    I am very proud of our new/young /techy generation, whose enthusiasm is unparalleled for Dr.Ambedkar compared to any other community.His name will be as long as there are Sun and moon in the universe.
