Earlier in the 1970s, Kanshi Ram Saheb had managed to win 6 corporation seats in Pune, Maharashtra. BAMCEF under Kanshi Ram was once influential to select a mayor of Pune!

Almost 20 years later, he had formed a government in Uttar Pradesh. Kanshi Ram Saheb had “appointed” one MP and MLA to do all the work which a real MP and MLA should be doing, to show it to the people as an experiment! Even PAs were appointed for those MP and MLAs (salaries were being paid by of course BAMCEF).

Then he had experimented in Delhi corporation election. He secured 10 ℅ votes in Delhi in one election before he finally decided to make it bigger in Uttar Pradesh. (It was the late 1970s or early 80s). 10 ℅ votes in Delhi was a litmus test for Kanshi Ram and he never looked back after passing that test!

From 1971 onward, for almost 7 years, he followed and analyzed smallest details about Republican Party of India. He found mistakes it was making and how to do things differently for the betterment of society.

Every time any Congress leaders would be coming to RPI office, Kanshi Ram also would be sitting outside for hours listening and observing everything!

Kanshi Ram Saheb even gave funds to RPI leaders for elections for so long until few BAMCEF colleagues opposed it saying it’s useless as RPI leaders sit and drink and lick Congress’ boots. Kanshi Ram Saheb tried to convince opponents saying you are giving me money and I do not drink!

Kanshi Ram is the only leader in India who travelled 1000s of the kilometre on the bicycle. When others were travelling in cars and other modes of transportation, he had the only bicycle but that didn’t matter to him. He had a mission on his mind and strong will to fulfil that mission of making Bahujans the ruler of his country. He said we will not stop until we unite the victims of the system and overthrow the spirit of inequality in our country.

Once he was disappointed that Congress had sealed alliance with RPI for Lok Sabha elections. A mutual agreement in the alliance was RPI will fight on 1 seat and on 541 seats Congress will fight the election. On that day Kanshi Ram Saheb was sure that Congress will never let RPI die!

Since that day Kanshi Ram Saheb dreamed of a day when he will destroy the Congress in such a manner that one day Congress will come for the alliance to him. Then he will seal an alliance with Congress which will give one Lok Sabha seat to Congress to fight and rest 541 will be for Bahujan Samaj Party! His determination and hard work have reduced Congress to nothing in present context.

The master strategist himself Kanshi Ram was the most sought politician in India even when he accused the two mainstream political parties, the Congress and BJP as Sapnath and Nagnath. Within ten years after forming BSP, Kanshi Ram Saheb compelled Congress Party and Rajiv Gandhi to invite him to discuss alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Today BJP is beating you and you are turning towards Congress. Till yesterday, Congress has beaten you and tomorrow Congress will kick your butts but you won’t go to Bahujan parties.

Kanshi Ram was the far-sighted person who said we want total social transformation otherwise at some time you get a good leader and you will be happy but then next you will get some bad leader then you will suffer. Until social transformation is not achieved, nothing is going to change for Dalits.

Kanshi Ram Saheb worked hard and made those people rulers of the country who had never thought about that. He strongly believed that social transformation will come through Bahujan parties, not Brahminical parties.

All those leaders who are piggybacking, taking shortcuts and working in the hands of Brahminical parties must learn from Saheb Kanshi Ram. If you want to work for the community, you need to understand what Saheb Kanshi Ram believed – social transformation will come through Bahujan parties, not Brahminical parties.
