Welcome to India – 15 Violent Attacks on Christians Every Week in 2016!

It’s not only Dalits and Muslims who are suffering but Christians and other minority communities also. Brahminical media has never shown the true picture of India. Attacks on Christian communities have been rising but most have been ignored by Brahminical media and society.

In BJP ruled Utter Pradesh on June 24, 2017, four Christian families claim they were beaten with sticks and forced to take part in Hindu rituals but Brahminical media didn’t report anything about it. Despite this attack and Dalit-Thakurs riots in Saharanpur, BJP Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath shamelessly claimed that his first 100 days of the rule were without any riot and trouble.

Christians have been targeted in Jalalabad village, Ghazipur District. Hate campaign is affecting their livelihood after the extremists cut off the water supply to their crops.

The attack comes as India records more than 250 attacks on Christians in the country so far this year. India has seen persecution levels rise dramatically in the last four years.

Since the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014, radical Hinduism has increased steadily. There are anti-conversion laws to prevent people from leaving Hinduism in five states, and there have been efforts to impose such a law at a national level. Many of those who have left Hinduism to follow Christianity have been attacked.

Everyone has the freedom to practice whatever religion they want to practice and it is the responsibility of government to provide safety for everyone. Present Modi government have failed miserably to provide the safe environment for Dalits and minority communities and India is turning into a nightmare for many. Almost every day, there are a number of attacks which are reported and large numbers of attacks on Dalits and minority communities are left unreported.

India has seen persecution levels rise dramatically in the last four years with up to 15 violent attacks on Christians every week in 2016, according to ‘Open Doors’ charity’s report.

Open Doors charity works to raise awareness of global persecution.

Open Doors partners have recorded 252 attacks on Christians in India so far in 2017, with 80 taking place in March alone. With media under government’s control, there is little hope that such attacks will be reported.

After Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in UP state elections and with fanatic Yogi Adityanath in power, Hindu extremists are attacking Christians and other minorities with impunity.

With the RSS/BJP government refusing to speak out against the atrocities being carried out against Christians and other minorities, the situation is expected to get worse.
