Babri Masjid – Never Ending Wait For Justice
Supreme Court on Wednesday, 19th April 2017, restored criminal conspiracy charges against BJP leaders L.K. Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and13 others in Babri Masjid demolition case. It took Supreme Court almost 25 years to decide that these leaders should be charged despite having many proofs against them.
On 6 December 1992, the demolition of the Babri Masjid by Hindu nationalist groups had triggered riots all over India, leading to around 2,000 deaths. All the people on whom criminal charges were framed should resign from the government with immediate effect. BJP cleverly used the death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar to kill the democracy and murder Babri Masjid.
In a series of Tweets, Asaduddin Owaisi raised important issues. 6 December 1992 was a shameful day, in fact, Black Day for Indian Democracy and will always be remembered when rule of law was demolished. Demolition of Babri Masjid is a Nations shame [and] people responsible for this shame are now running the Nation.
Mahatma Gandhi assassination trial completed in 2 years and Babri Masjid demolition which more serious than MK Gandhi’s killing not yet decided. Gandhi’s killers were convicted, hanged & Babri accused have been made Union Ministers, conferred Padma Vibhushan, justice system moves slowly.
Will Kalyan Singh resign & face trial or hide behind the cover of being Governor? Will Modi Government remove him in Interest of Justice I doubt, Asaduddin Owaisi raised the serious issue. If the government is committed to justice they should remove Kalyan Singh (Rajasthan Governor) & tell him to face trial.
The country is waiting for 25 yrs for justice in Babri Masjid demolition case.
It was Rajiv Gandhi led Congress at Center and Kalyan Singh led BJP in Uttar Pradesh that had created all the mess by open the locks on the Babri Masjid gates and allowing Karsewaks to go inside.
A 2005 book by the former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Joint Director Maloy Krishna Dhar claimed the senior leaders of RSS, BJP, VHP and Bajrang Dal had planned the demolition 10 months in advance.
He also suggested that the Indian National Congress leaders, including former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao and home minister S B Chavan, had ignored warnings about the demolition for deriving political benefits. So, it was not the only BJP but Congress was also equally trying to get benefit from generating hatred among Hindus and Muslims.
A senior Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader, L K Advani, started a Rath Yatra which raised the tension among Muslims and Hindus leading to the killing of more than 2000 people in the aftermath of Babri Masjid demolition.
Since then BJP has kept the issue of Babri Masjid alive to gain votes in the elections. BJP not only kept it alive but fueled it from time to time and instigated hatred among communities. Will this Supreme Court verdict bring some results and deliver justice to the people who are waiting for justice since last 25 years?
