Rape is one of the most terrible crimes on earth and happens every few minutes. Rape is a heinous crime and many times used as a weapon by so-called upper castes to punish or teach a lesson to so-called lower castes for their resistance to caste atrocities. The recent case of brutal gang-rape and murder of 8-year-old girl belonging to nomadic Bakerwal tribe of Jammu and Kashmir made international headlines and shocked many with the depth of human depravity.

The little girl was held captive in temple shed, was sedated, raped continuously for five days and later stoned to death. This was all done to force nomads out of Jammu region as some reports claim. This dreadful ordeal shocked many but what is more shocking is the kind of support these alleged rapists and murderers are getting from majority Hindu society and from current Hindu nationalist Regime.

Rapists are being hailed as heroes and saviours of Dharma and are celebrated as warriors who inflicted pain on enemy communities. The Hindu nationalists are either justifying it or manufacturing conspiracy theories to absolve themselves from the horrible crime.

But why am I not surprised with these pro-rapist rallies?

Is this the first time when rapists are hailed as heroes?

Well, the answer is NO.

The Ministers from ruling party who visited the Rasana village where this incident took place was addressing the pro-rapist crowd and his exact words were “oye gujjro 47 bhul gaye” – Gujjars have you forgotten 1947?

These are not just words but are expressions of appreciation and celebration of rapes that took place during partition. In 2002, mass rapes of Muslim women were engineered and people like Babu Bajrangi boasted with pride that he raped Muslim women in front of his wife, how he put sword inside the private parts of Muslim women and majority Hindu society was either silent or justified it by voting the people who engineered it.

This is not just limited to the Muslim community, the mass murders and mass rapes of Sikh women in 1984 were to celebrated by majority Hindu society and gave highest parliamentary positions to the perpetrators. The taunts of “sardaro 84 bhul gaye” (have you forgotten 1984 Sikhs?) are still made with approbation.

The recent case was of Shambu Lal Regher who axed and burnt a Muslim man alive was hailed as a hero and he even got his tableau in Ram Namvi celebrations but majority community accepted it without any protest.

Well in Asifa Bano case if justice is not served then the perpetrators will be celebrated as warriors or may be rewarded with parliamentary seats and if justice is served they will be remembered as martyrs who died saving Dharma. (Editor – In both cases, India is doomed to fail and prove Dr Ambedkar right when he had said Hindu Raj would be the greatest calamity for this country.)
