Dalit Women Fight in Support of Bhim Army

One of the major landmarks of Dalit movement led by Dr B.R. Ambedkar had been the huge participation of women and their articulation for political, social and economic rights for women in general and depressed class women in particular.

In conditions like in Saharanpur, Dr Ambedkar wanted all of us to fight back.

Recently, after the arrest of Chandrasheker Azad, chief of Bhim Army, Dalit women have come forward to protest against the atrocities of Yogi Adityanath led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. Various groups of Dalit women under the banner of Bhim Army have started staging protests in different places in Saharanpur demanding the release of Chandrashekhar Azad and other Dalits those are put in jail without any crime.

After the arrest of Chandrasheker Azad, his mother and younger brother are leading the Bhim Army and movement for the justice for the victims of Brahminical system in Saharanpur. More than 5 protests have been held by Dalit women in last week. On May 12, a group of Dalit women had tried to block the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway in Deoband.

It must be noted that Dalits houses were set on fire and Dalits were killed by terrorist Thakurs of the Saharanpur. Dalits have complained many times that there is no fair investigation going on and police is favouring terrorist Thakurs. Bhim Army which came to protest Dalits is being targeted by BJP/RSS government.

Many Dalits from Saharanpur have threatened to leave Hinduism (Brahminism) and accept Buddhism.

In the latest call to protest, Chandrasheker Azad Ravan’s mother and younger brother Kamal Kishore have appealed everyone to reach Jantar Mantar on June 18th. People from all over the country will be participating in the protest at Jantar Mantar against the failure of BJP/RSS government to protect Dalits and minority communities in not only in Uttar Pradesh but all over India.
