Bahujan Samaj Party to Launch Students’ Wing – Reports
Bahujan Samaj Party is planning to launch a students’ wing as per the reports of National Dastak and Patrika. Students’ wing is an attempt to reach youth and first-time voters.
In 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections, youth played a vital role and with the emergence of social media, students’ wing in different universities, colleges was much needed for Bahujan Samaj Party. The move that should have been implemented long ago, will materialise soon.
Students’ wing will help spread the ideas of Dalit-Bahujan ideals and pushing forth BSP’s ideology amongst youth. In the recent election, Dalit-Bahujan youth, working as volunteers, had kept the fight alive on social media.
The name of the students’ wing has not been decided yet but as per the senior Bahujan Samaj Party leader the name can be Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangh.
Till now BSP was not in favour of students’ politics but now it is a high time for Bahujan Samaj Party to leave a good mark on youth and attract them. It is a necessary shift in the changing political scenario in India.
We believe it is a great move by Bahujan Samaj Party. Dalit students in universities, colleges feel lost in the crowd of saffron student groups. Almost all other political parties have their students’ wing, such as BJP has ABVP, Congress had NSUI, and Communist Party of India has AISF etc.
These all Brahminical parties spread their propaganda through students and misguide them. If Bahujan Samaj Party’s student wing will come into the picture, it will counter the propaganda and appropriation of Dalit-Bahujan heroes.
Dalit-Bahujan students have been fighting for justice and equality in campuses till now without any major support from the political party, so if Bahujan Samaj Party launches students’ wing, it would be a great relief for the students whose ideology matches with the party’s ideology.
We welcome the move and would wait for it!
Update – On 16th May 2017, National Dastak reported that Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has denied any reports of forming students’ wing saying that BSP is a not only political party but also social change organisation and it is a movement in which every religion, women, students have representation. So, there is no need to form students’ wing.

Only BAPSA can fill that gap. Such hardcore, intellectual and true Ambedkarites BAPSA has generated so far.
Great move, Also according to my suggestion, we must create a Question & Answer blogs for those who have some questions will post, then our intellectuals will answer. Because, i had a talk with many people on various issues of Bahujan Parties & Dr B R Ambedkar….this people have various misconceptions & ill-information.
*Please take my suggestion seriously.
Thank you for the suggestion. Could you give us ideas what kind of questions you would like to get answers and we will try to bring Q&A section also.
Good move !
It is high time that a student wing of BSP is being considered like other political parties, this is one of weak link of BSP.Dalit/Bahujan Vidyarthi Parished(DBVP) will be reasonable name in consonant with the Party aim and Objective ,if it needs the youth especially a new bank of “would be BSP leader.”
Yes, we also believe that it is much needed and should be materialised as soon as possible.
