Poem – I Don’t Need Your [Temple] Bells
I don’t need your bells
Babasaheb fought…
Fought for my rights as human
I couldn’t ring your temple bells
Your gods gave me just inequality
I couldn’t get water from public wells Your scriptures gave me untouchability Religion of inequal- ity & caste injustice Does no good, only harms humanity
In the world I live in,
I want Equality, liberty, mo- rality, rationality
Scriptures I have burnt;
And your bells I don’t need to ring Ram-Krishna you keep with yourself
Buddham-Sharanam-Gachhami is what I sing
Babasaheb won… Won for me my rights as human.
